Our faculty mentors conduct cutting-edge research projects from various topics, such as machine learning, cloud computing, software engineering and robotics. The projects are designed for students with various backgrounds.
Dr. Mao’s research interests mainly focus on the fields of cloud computing, virtualization, deep learning systems, and data-intensive platforms.
Dr. Ding’s interests include Deep Neural Network Systems, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Computer Architecture and Heterogeneous Computing.
Dr. Weiss’s mainly interested in Educational Data Mining (EDM), with the goal of improving education using a data-intensive approach.
Dr. Yang’s research fields are empirical software engineering including software process technologies, software crowdsourcing, cost estimation, defect prediction, and technical debts.
Dr. Lyons’s research interests are in Computer Vision and Robotics, in particular for systems that operate in the same kind of dynamic and unstructured environments as humans.
Dr. Lin studies the transition from high school to college, community colleges, and financial aid. She will be the program evaluator of our ExploreCSR and conduct post-program interviews.
Dr. Hsu’s research interests include data science, macro-informatics, cognitive computing, interconnection networks, AI, and combinatorial fusion analysis(CFA).
Dr. Bae’s research interests are focused on using passive data from smartphones and wearable devices to develop predictive models of human behavior that could reduce healthcare costs.
Dr. Chen’s research interests include game and decision theory for cybersecurity, secure and resilient socio-cyber-physical systems, optimization and machine learning for complex networked syste...
